Named in honor of Dr. Richard Felder, a pioneer in student-centered learning and chemical education, this award was presented for the first time in January 2026 at the NC State Engineering Education Symposium. Learn more about our inaugural award winners below.

2026 Award Winners

Dr. Adam Carberry

Dr. Adam R. Carberry is Professor and Chair in the Department of Engineering Education at The Ohio State University (OSU). Dr. Carberry has conducted important research on developing new classroom innovations and assessment techniques and identifying new ways to empirically understand engineering student and educator experiences.

Dr. Idalis Villanueva Alarcón

Dr. Idalis Villanueva Alarcón is Professor and Chair of the Engineering Education Department in the University of Florida at Gainesville. Dr. Villanueva Alarcón has developed groundbreaking approaches to engineering education research and innovated methods to study and apply evidenced-based teaching.
