Why EED?
Where could engineering education take you?
An Evolving Discipline
Engineering is a field experiencing enduring changes brought about by emergent technologies, advancements in research and understanding, and shifting global industries. Engineering educators are a cornerstone of preparing students for the realities of these changes and a future of further developments, many of which will be shaped by the next generation of student engineers themselves. Engineering education considers the impact that future engineers will have on the world and provides educators with the tools needed to effectively prepare professionals for this responsibility.

Tomorrow’s… engineers will not spend a lot of time substituting numbers into formulas or calculating the number of stages in a distillation column. Computers do that very well now. Now it is crucial to learn such things as 1) thinking outside the box, critically and creatively, 2) keeping up with developments in technology, which is advancing at an exponential rate, 3) learning how to deal with people from other cultures who speak other languages, 4) thinking entrepreneurially.
